How accurate is the colorization?
Kevin Kelly, the co-founder of Wired magazine, uses it himself. He dusted off some old black and white photos, and then ran them through Palette. What did he think? He said it was 'remarkably accurate'. Not perfect, mind you, but darn close.
In his words, 'Even when it's not 100% precise, it produces very pleasing images.' He's been having a blast colorizing his old grayscale photos.
Now, we aren't claiming to recreate exact original colors. Instead, think of Palette as a smart artist. It makes sophisticated, data-driven guesses. It nails most skin tones. Mirrors light conditions. Captures the minute details.
You don't just have to take Kevin's word for it. Others love it too. A genealogist nearly cried seeing her old family photos in vibrant colors. An artist was blown away by how Palette handled his fantasy landscape artwork. These are just a few of the hundreds of comments of unfiltered feedback on Reddit or Hacker News.
But you know what the best part is? You can tweak the results. Tailor it to your taste. Palette’s creator spent years working on colorization at Google, and it shows.

How is this different from other colorization services?
Customization and precision.
Palette doesn't just colorize - it captures your chosen mood, from the subtleties of a spring morning to the dramatic tones of a summer sunset.
Users often mention when they discovered the colorization text editor, the ability to create dynamic colorizations with mere words. They admire the intuitive interface. Celebrate the vibrant, detailed results.
World-renowned photoshop expert Unmesh Dinda took Palette for a spin. After a rigorous test run, the verdict was clear: the world’s best AI to color B&W photos. Palette outperformed leading competitors such as Adobe Neural Filters and MyHeritage.
Palette's high standards have garnered attention beyond hobbyists. It's the tool of choice for industry professionals. Documentarians. Filmmakers. They rely on Palette for their clients. Disney. The History Channel. And Netflix.

What are credits and how does payments work?
For low-resolution results, it’s always free and does not require an account.
To download high-resolution colorizations, you need to purchase credits. 1 credit = 1 HD Colorization download. Credits enable you to download a colorized version of your image in its original size. Say you upload a black and white image of size 3840 × 2160, you can use one credit to download a 3840 × 2160 colorized version.
If you're just looking to colorize one image, it would cost $1.99 - this is our single purchase rate. However, we offer discounts if you buy credits in bulk. The $0.9 per image price applies when you purchase 10 credits at once for $9. It's a bulk rate. Likewise, the $0.65 rate kicks in when you commit to buying a bundle of 75 credits for $49. The more you commit to purchasing, the lower the price per image.
You can purchase credits once or with a subscription. And if you're scratching your head, wondering which plan to pick, I'd go for the $72/year package. It's got a huge discount and you can generate up to 480 images. Cancel anytime.
We support all major Credit Cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Please email [email protected] if you have any questions.

How do subscriptions and one-time purchases compare?
Subscription credits are heavily discounted credits that are only available with a subscription. They expire when you unsubscribe and can rollover for up to five month. One-time purchases are more expensive but can be used without a subscription for up to two years of purchase. If you have a lot of ongoing colorization work, a subscription is ideal, while one-time purchases are the way to go if you want to test the service or colorize a few images now and then.
And if you're scratching your head, wondering which plan to pick, I'd go for the $72/year package. It's a steal at $0.15 per image. You can generate up to 480 images.
You can unsubscribe at anytime in less then a minute by clicking on 'Manage Subscription' in the menu. While I understand that sending an email might seem like a quick and easy way to cancel a subscription, cancellation requests submitted via email might not be processed in a timely manner, and you may continue to be charged for your subscription until the cancellation is confirmed through the website.
