Volkswagen's Digital Revolution: AI Lab Redefining Automotive Intelligence

Volkswagen Group has recently unveiled its latest venture, AI Lab, a dedicated artificial intelligence (AI) company geared towards incubating innovative AI-based digital products. The initiative aims to foster global collaboration, with a focus on identifying and developing AI concepts and producing early prototypes. The company envisions partnering with tech firms across Europe, China, and North America to tap into the dynamic AI sector's innovation potential and accelerate the development of groundbreaking products.

The newly established AI Lab, led by CEO Carsten Helbing and CLO & CBO Carmen Schmidt, plans to explore diverse AI applications. These include high-performance speech recognition, integration of users' digital ecosystems with their vehicles, and extended vehicle functions like AI-optimized charging cycles for electric vehicles and predictive maintenance. Volkswagen Group is keen on simplifying collaboration with technology companies to harness the full potential of AI and enhance the overall customer experience.

Acknowledging the transformative power of AI, Oliver Blume, CEO of Volkswagen-Porsche, emphasized the company's commitment to linking external digital ecosystems with vehicles, paving the way for an improved product experience. With a supervisory board comprised of members from Volkswagen, Audi, and Porsche brand management boards, AI Lab aims to navigate the dynamic AI sector, fostering flexibility and speed in collaboration with external partners to stay ahead in this rapidly evolving landscape.
