David Hanson, CEO of Hanson Robotics, emphasized the increasingly human-like qualities of artificial intelligence (AI)-driven robotics during his address at the Global Business Summit in Delhi on Saturday. He noted a significant shift towards lifelike capabilities in AI-driven robotics, attributing this progress to advancements in foundational models, computing tools, and authoring tools.Speaking on the potential for machines to become sentient, Hanson asserted that we are in an epoch where such a possibility is real. He proposed that humanoid robots could serve as a bridge between AI and the human experience, offering unique insights into what it means to be alive and expanding human intelligence and consciousness.
Highlighting the importance of diversity in the field of AI and robotics, Hanson emphasized the need for diverse teams to drive innovation. He shared that the Hanson Robotics team comprises 50% women and includes individuals from various disciplines such as engineering, AI science, design, art, and animation. This interdisciplinary approach, according to Hanson, humanizes robot interfaces, fosters personal connections, and helps AI understand human experiences better.
