The Browser Company, renowned creators of the Arc browser, have unveiled their latest innovation – the Arc Search app. Exclusively designed for iPhones, this application is poised to redefine the user's browsing experience by employing artificial intelligence (AI) to generate customized search results, presenting them in an entirely new webpage format. At the heart of Arc Search is its distinctive 'Browse for me' feature, allowing users to input search queries and letting the app autonomously scour the internet for relevant information. The company asserts that the app's AI technology reads through multiple web pages, presenting tailored search results on a fresh webpage, the structure of which is intricately linked to the search terms provided.
CEO Josh Miller took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce that launching the Arc Search app on an iPhone triggers the keyboard to appear automatically, with the cursor honing in on the search box. A demonstration video highlights the efficiency of the 'Browse for me' function, showcasing the app's capability to analyze at least six web pages and create a new website featuring customized results. Moreover, The Browser Company emphasizes the app's streamlined tab navigation, utilizing an iOS-like recent apps menu for enhanced efficiency compared to other mobile browsers.
To prioritize user privacy, Arc Search performs nightly cleanup routines, automatically closing all tabs and erasing tab history. In a bid to offer a seamless cross-platform experience, the company has opted to replace iCloud with its proprietary syncing service. This service synchronizes user data, including Spaces and Pinned tabs, across devices. Currently available for download on the App Store, the developers plan to rebrand the app as 'Arc' for iPhone by dropping the word 'Search' within the next month or two. The introduction of Arc Search marks a significant leap forward in the evolution of browsing, promising users a more personalized and efficient web exploration experience.
